Moscow could decide to use chemical weapons in Ukraine if it continues to lose ground on the country’s eastern front, officials in the administration of US President Joe Biden believe.
According to the publication Politico, chemical weapons would be Russian President Putin’s option, before nuclear weapons.
On the other hand, the Americans have no information on the imminence of such a scenario.
However, Russia is on the defensive in most of the occupied areas, and the massive bombardments do not seem to prevent the Ukrainians from continuing the fight for the liberation of the country.
More than 30 Russian missiles fell on kyiv. Most were neutralized by anti-aircraft defenses, but those who made it through threw the Ukrainian capital into chaos.
Moldova, hit by Russian bombardments
One of the projectiles fell on a block in the Podilski district. The building was engulfed in flames as occupants tried to escape. In fact, it seems that the Russians would have launched all the missiles simultaneously, in order to stifle the Ukrainian air defenses.
And in the Republic of Moldova, due to the Russian attacks, the power grids were automatically disconnected, as a protective measure.
In Chisinau, power was restored after two hours. In the rest of the country, however, the solution did not come so quickly.
In Ukraine, Russian missiles fell in several cities of the country. In the Zaporozhye region, a maternity hospital was hit and a newborn baby was killed by the explosion. The mother and doctor were rescued from the rubble by emergency crews.
Another Russian bombardment targeted Kherson, from which they recently withdrew. At least one person died and several were injured after the projectiles fell on houses.
The Russians confiscated ambulances
Hopes for a miracle at the hospital are slim. The Russians took most of the ambulances with them when they left, and the medical unit has no electricity or heating.
Meanwhile, disturbing images continue to emerge of the deplorable situation in which the second largest army in the world finds itself. The new Russian recruits are locked up in tents in appalling sanitary conditions. They light their fires to decompress. Those who can afford it buy their own food, the others go hungry. No wonder more and more people are venting their anger.
And relatives of many of the 300,000 Russians recently mobilized are making desperate pleas.
However, images of a cemetery of Russian armored vehicles located in the Belgorod region, a few tens of kilometers from the border with Ukraine, appeared. Here are hundreds of tanks, armored personnel carriers and trucks damaged in the fighting in Ukraine – some now used as spare parts, others just rusting by the side of the road.
