Searches for “medical and construction tax evaders” | Romania

18 arrest warrants will be executed, those detected will be taken to court.

Police officers from the Economic Crime Investigation Department, under the coordination of prosecutors from the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Bucharest Court of Appeal, carry out 15 house searches, in Bucharest, Ilfov and Teleorman, on persons suspected of having caused a damage of more than 2,000,000 euros, thanks to tax evasion in the medical and construction fields.

According to a press release from the Romanian police, the action aims to document the activity of a private medical clinic in Bucharest which, during the period 2010-2014, allegedly escaped, in part, compliance with tax obligations in recording fictitious or inaccurate transactions in the accounts.

18 arrest warrants will be executed, those detected will be taken to court.

In order to reduce its payment obligations due to the State budget, the economic agent, as the final beneficiary, would have created a fictitious commercial circuit, recording overvalued purchases from construction companies.

In turn, these commercial companies would have highlighted in their accounts fictitious expenses contracted with several companies controlled, in fact, also by the suspected persons.

The activities benefit from the specialized support of the Directorate of Intelligence and Homeland Protection.
